Barrie Wolfe
Barrie is a registered dietitian with over 25 years of experience. Helping others modify their behaviors, mindset and choices to maximize wellness is her passion. After receiving her masters in nutrition science from New York University, she began her career at NYU Langone Medical Center where she was the Cardiac Dietitian for a few years and then became the nutritionist for the NYU Program for Surgical Weight Loss where she counseled clients undergoing bariatric (weight loss) surgery. She was part of a team who helped patients that were morbidly obese lose weight and dramatically change their overall health and lives. She left NYU to care for her then small children but started a part-time private practice specializing in weight loss and wellness.
She spent the last year returning to her roots working for NYU Langoneβs weight loss program when she was asked to cover for one of their dietitians on leave. In addition to working with patients undergoing weight loss surgery, she also started helping clients boost their success with and without weight loss medication. She is excited to bring her passion to help clients to our program.

Why Did You Become a Dietitian?
I spent my first year at the University of Michigan (like many other students their first time living independently) without any structure regarding my diet, exercise or sleep routine. I came home with inflamed skin, low energy levels and displeasure with the weight I put on. I sought the help of a fabulous, compassionate registered dietitian who helped me learn the principles and importance of nutritious eating, establishing routine and healthy habits in addition to spurring my interest in the field of nutrition. Once I graduated college, I went on to receive my Masterβs in Nutrition from NYU.
What Is Your Approach to Treatment?
Making changes to our diet is one of the most challenging, because food is all around us at multiple times a day. If you are ready to take the step to make positive changes in your diet, I will guide you in a safe, creative and supportive manner to help you reach your goals. My objective is to make healthy eating a habit for you.
Just as important, I help coach my patients on becoming more mindful and thoughtful in their food choices and planning and making sure other areas of their well-being including physical activity, self-care, sleep and body image are cared for. I share in my clientβs personal victories of self-improvement and my purpose is to give them tools for them to succeed while providing accountability and support and this encompasses much more than food.
